Four species all belong to the genus Myotis. Generally these are species that don't emerge until it is quite dark, making them particularly tricky to spot. The easiest of the four to watch is Daubenton's bat, a species that specialises in taking insects off the water surface. These can often be spotted on summer evenings flying low over the water like little hovercraft. Roosts are usually nearby, often in bridges.
